It's too easy to scroll through our socials and see across the internet that our world is broken. Tumultuous wars in the Middle East and Eurasia, another contentious American election, various protests, positions, and platforms front and center on the news...it feels like there is such little hope—but that's exactly why Revelation was written.
Revelation can feel daunting, confusing, and downright scary, but that doesn't have to be the case. The apostle John wrote it in the first century to comfort and give real hope to a persecuted, suffering church, then and now. Its prophecies and symbols are not a puzzle to solve, but a glimpse into the spiritual realm and the promise of what's to come to give us a heavenly perspective of history by focusing on one person: Jesus. It's an invitation to those who are thirsty and those with ears to hear to come to Jesus and find grace, mercy, peace, and hope—right now.
The Risen, Reigning, Returning King
We've chosen our theme (The Risen, Reigning, and Returning King) intentionally to help point ourselves back to the vision and revelation of Jesus in this book. The opening chapter reveals a victorious picture of the risen Jesus standing among his church. Through the middle of the book, we see several depictions of Jesus reigning from his throne in heaven throughout all history. Revelation ends with a detailed reminder that Jesus will return and make all things new, with a new heavens and earth free and healed from the chaos we see today.
Artwork
Our series artwork tries to encapsulate many of the symbols seen throughout the book. Even the image of the book itself is intentional, not only as we keep all of Scripture central through expositional preaching, but the warning in keeping this book and the hope of having our names written in the Lamb's book of life. We hope that week after week, both in word and picture, we are able to better grasp this glorious view of Jesus.
Journals
We will have our normal sermon notes pages available, but we will also have scripture journals and blank journals for you to use to better keep all your notes for Revelation in one place! We hope this becomes a helpful tool for study both now and later.
