FT | How to Study the Bible: Ephesians

Every Sunday until October 16, 2022

8:45am – 9:45am

Category: Field Training | Coordinator: Bryan Sloan

Sunday, September 4, is the start of our Fall 1 Field Training classes! We will be hosting a class on Studying the Bible in Ephesians as well as a book discussion on Taming the Tongue.

Since the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, authoritative, and sufficient word to us, we want to take great care to not only listen to it on Sunday mornings, but read it, memorize it, study it, and live it daily. The health of our church depends on the proclamation, teaching, and understanding of God’s Word. If we don’t grasp the truth of God’s Word ourselves, we won’t be able to share it with others.

This class will help each of us gain confidence and ability in rightly handling God’s Word to better evangelize the lost, disciple our children, teach a class, lead a discussion group, or just listen better on Sundays. We want everyone to leave convinced that God’s Word is powerful and become eager to study it and pass it on to others.

We will be using Simeon Trust’s First Principles lessons as our guide these 7 weeks while looking at the book of Ephesians.

1. Staying on the Line - Don’t add or take away

2. Text and Framework - Let the text shape our understanding

3. Structure - Strategies for uncovering the emphasis

4. Context - Understanding what it meant for them then

5. Melodic Line - Big idea of the whole book

6. Traveling through the cross - Seeing the relationship to the Gospel

7. Practice
