thread-album-front-edit1-768x768About the Album

The Thread was written and recorded in conjunction with our church’s journey through the book of Hebrews from January 4 – September 13, 2015. As outlined in this New Testament letter, these ten tracks explore the various ways in which Jesus is the ultimate thread that runs throughout Scripture, faith, salvation, and our lives. I hope you’ll take time to listen to the music and check out the other pages for lyrics, song explanations, and other great information.

Adopted by God

Before we existed, God breathed, and we came to life. As a human race, we chose our own way and were lost in death, “but to all who did receive [Jesus], who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

Making music is a sort of metaphor for this kind of adoption. Songwriters take sounds (the plucking of strings, the singing of words, the beating of drums) and adopt them into a song. On their own, their purpose may be thin and out of place, but in the unity of a song, they become something beautiful. This is why it’s worth singing songs about Him and to Him and for Him. Music unifies us and inspires us; but most importantly, music reminds those of us who believe in Christ that we were adopted, and now we live as His children.

All God's Children

Supporting All God’s Children through this album seemed to flow naturally from this truth. Because He adopted us, we want to show His love through Jesus by adopting and supporting orphans around the world. Every dollar made from this album will go to support that effort. We ask that you please donate a minimum of $10, but I highly encourage you to take the opportunity to give even more. You can learn more about them at www.allgodschildren.org.

Special Thanks

There are so many people that helped make this album a reality. I’m grateful to Bryan and the elders for supporting this project from the start. I’m grateful to Hollen Frazier, president of All God’s Children, for being so kind and personable with us, and being so supportive of this effort from the start. I’m grateful for my wife, Bethany, and Daniel Kitamura for not only serving our church in all aspects of worship week in and week out, but also lending their talents to this album. I’m especially grateful to Paul Demer and Logan Bowers, who poured hours and hours of work in recording, producing, part writing, and mixing. Seriously, this album would not have happened without you guys. Thank you. Thanks to all of you and many others.

May God bless His children, and guide us to live lives that call the lost and hurting to believe in the name of Jesus.  -Graham Jones
