Orphan care is one of the greatest needs and most important areas of ministry in the church.  Not only are orphans needy, hungry, thirsty, homeless, and sick, but they are children who are unable to provide these things on their own.  Even Jesus' brother James says, Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (James 1:27 ESV)

However, our desire to care for orphans doesn't simply come from the great need, but from an awareness that God the Father cared for us who were orphaned in our sin and adopted us into his family.   But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. (Galatians 4:4-7 ESV)  In light of this truth, we hope to care for orphans physically so that they might know the love of God spiritually.

Orphan Sunday

Each year we take time to bring awareness to the global need of orphans worldwide as well as God's intentional adoption of his children in the Scriptures.  We hope and pray this stirs our affections for God as our Father and breaks our heart for what breaks his, the fatherless. Orphan Care

We encourage all believers to care for orphans in some form or fashion, whether that is through prayer and support of a foster or adoptive family, sponsoring a child through an orphan care ministry, or fostering and/or adopting yourself.  There are many organizations to help you facilitate a multitude of different ways to care for orphans.  Check out these few organizations as you get started in your journey to care for orphans.

Adoption Fund

As a church, we have set up an Adoption Fund to help families willing and able to adopt orphans into their family permanently.  We know that adoption is costly in every way, but we don't want finances to be the reason a family doesn't move forward in faith to care for orphans in this way.

Click here to donate to our Adoption Fund or note Adoption Fund in the memo of your check. Lifesong for Orphans hosts our adoption fund.  They assess family applications and give 100% of our donations to families in the form matching grants or interest free loans.  This is just one of our ways of equipping the church to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12).
